Extended Edition: This edition is produced from all of the
original "extended" volumes produced. When the original
set was produced, and extended volume would be included for the
state to which it was being sold. For instance, in for sales in
Virginia, an extended Volume III - Virginia was issued with the
set instead of the regular volume. This "extended" volume
included additional biographies of citizens, officers and privates
who played an important role in that state's participation in the
war. It usually doubled the size of the regular volume. There had
never been an entire set of "extended" volumes issued.
The total number of pages in the original 12-volume set was 6600
pages. Broadfoot's 19-volume set is 12,585 pages. |
